A lesson yet to Learn

"Father forgive them for they know not what they do."
- the words of Jesus.

Father, teach me to say the same about those who hate me,
and teach me to hear the prayers of those whom I hate about me,
that I may repent!

Good Friday is the mirror held up by turns us to that cross and to his eyes and we hear these words, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do."

The Getshemane Occasion

This is a picture of the famous olive tree in the Garden of Getshemane, a place where Jesus prayed fervently during His final hours on earth. Tradition has it that Jesus prayed just where that olive tree is now. We never know.

While we may doubt of the spot where Jesus prayed, we may be certain that Jesus did pray in the Getshemane fervently that He sweated blood. The Bible says that He was so distressed during the approaching moments of His dead.

I couldn't imagine how sorrowful Jesus that He sweated blood! But knowing the Getshemane occasion has always been a source of strength to me। If the Son of Man had ever been so distressed, then it's normal that I too could become so depressed। And if the Son of Man had ever experienced His darkest moments, then He too would understand mine। And I trust that He will walk me through it. In fact, that's what He has alwyas been doing!

Hope the Getshemane Occasion has given you some strength too!
